Salford Royal have released details of an innovative project using 3D printing technology in spinal surgery.
Inspiration and support came from Eagle Lab Salford’s technician James Medd, who talks more about their involvement in this video. Salford Royal utilised the Eagle Lab makerspace here at The Landing for both 3D printing facilities and James’ expertise.

The team created a 3D printed mould of the patient’s body, from which they were able to build a silicon support used during the 15-hour surgery. It was the first operation of its kind in the UK using 3D digital printing techiques.
